Terms of Use
Last updated: April 22, 2026
By downloading or using the WhatCode app ("App"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Description of the App
WhatCode is an iOS companion app for OpenCode. It connects to the OpenCode server running on your own Mac and delivers push notifications to your device through a developer-operated relay. Your code, conversations, and project data are processed locally on your Mac — not on our servers.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction, to use the App.
3. Your Responsibilities
- You are responsible for the OpenCode server running on your machine and any activity that occurs through it.
- You must not use WhatCode to violate any applicable laws or the terms of any AI provider you connect to through OpenCode.
- You must not interfere with or abuse the App, daemon, or relay infrastructure.
- You must not transmit malware, harmful payloads, or abusive traffic through the relay.
- You must not attempt to bypass security, entitlement, or pairing protections.
- You must not reverse-engineer, modify, or redistribute the WhatCode iOS app.
4. Push Notifications and the Relay
WhatCode uses a relay server (api.whatcode.app) to forward push notifications from your Mac to your device. The relay is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee delivery of notifications and are not liable for missed or delayed notifications.
5. Subscription
5.1 Subscription features
The App may offer an optional paid subscription. Subscription features may include enhanced notification options, additional configuration, and access to developer-operated infrastructure features. Feature availability may vary based on platform and your current build.
5.2 Billing
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- Renewal is charged by Apple within 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple account settings.
5.3 Trials and refunds
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under App Store refund rules.
6. Third-Party Services
The App relies on third-party services including Apple (App Store billing and platform services) and Apple Push Notification service (APNs). Your use of those services is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
7. No Warranty
WhatCode is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind. We make no guarantees about uptime, reliability, security, or fitness for a particular purpose.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, or business opportunity, arising from your use of the App or related services.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the App or related services will not exceed the amount you paid for the App's subscriptions in the twelve (12) months before the claim.
9. Changes to the App and These Terms
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue features of the App or relay infrastructure at any time. We may also update these Terms. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms will be resolved in the courts of Italy, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
11. Apple App Store Terms
If you obtained the App through the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:
- These Terms are between you and WhatCode only, not with Apple.
- The license granted to you is a non-transferable license to use the App on Apple-branded products you own or control, subject to the Apple Media Services Usage Rules.
- This App is also subject to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula
- WhatCode, not Apple, is responsible for the App and its content.
- WhatCode, not Apple, is responsible for providing maintenance and support.
- In the event of any failure of the App to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price under its applicable policies. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.
- WhatCode, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and claims arising under consumer protection or privacy laws.
- WhatCode, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling, and discharging any third-party intellectual property infringement claim relating to the App.
- You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
12. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
